City College Plymouth and Column Bakehouse teamed up to showcase the next generation of hospitality and catering professionals at this year’s Flavour Fest.
In preparation for their attendance at the South West’s largest food and drink festival, the City College students were given bread making master classes from the baking experts at Column Bakehouse.
Georgiana Downing (18) is studying Professional Cookery at the College and was one of the team of students demonstrating their skills at Flavour Fest. She said: “Flavour Fest was so much fun! I am really chuffed that I had the opportunity to take part in the event and receive bread making tips and coaching from the Column Bakehouse team - it was really insightful. I hope I get to work with them again next year.”
Mark Du’chesne, Column Bakehouse Manager, said: “We had a really successful experience at Flavour Fest this year, with our award-winning breads selling out on all three days. Teaming up with the College has been a great way for us to showcase the social enterprise side of Column Bakehouse. Giving back to the community is a huge part of what we are about as a company. It was great to be able to provide work experience for the students and then see them demonstrating their skills on our joint stand.”
